Arcanum's first tournament: a packed table at Guilda Geek and an undefeated champion

This Saturday we held our first Constructed tournament, at Guilda Geek Games. There was an art raffle, a playmat for the champion, exclusive foils for the podium and a first champion who didn't lose a single game.

Hi, Francisco here again. And I'm writing this with the adrenaline still through the roof, because this Saturday something happened that I'd wanted to see for a long time: Arcanum's first tournament.

It was at Guilda Geek Games, in Vargem Grande Paulista, in Constructed format. Everyone brought their own deck, built their own way, and sat down at the table to find out whether the idea they had at home could survive the real world.

Packed table, dice rolling

Players focused at two tables at Guilda Geek Games, with Arcanum playmats, cards in play and dice on the table

The morning started with people learning to play and a chat about deckbuilding. After lunch, the talking was over: three rounds of Swiss, best of three, with eight players fighting for every point.

And it was a beautiful sight. Playmats out, Alpha Set cards on the field, people calculating damage in their heads and that tense silence when someone is about to respond to a spell. For a moment I forgot the game is mine and just watched, like a fan.

Prizes all around

A first tournament couldn't go by unnoticed, so we went all out:

  • A raffle of 5 artworks for everyone who was there. Winning something without even having to win a match is the best kind of luck.
  • 1st place: a playmat with the community's favorite art. You chose it, the champion took it home.
  • 2nd and 3rd places: two exclusive foils you can't get anywhere else.

Thank you, Guilda Geek

None of this happens without a place that opens its doors. Guilda Geek Games is one of those stores that's always in our corner: they gave us the space, welcomed everyone warmly and made Arcanum's first tournament feel like it had been happening there for years. Thank you so much, from the bottom of my heart.

And that was just the first. More in-person events are on the way, plus online tournaments for those who don't live nearby.

Every match counts toward the rankings

Every official tournament result turns into points on the community rankings. Today's players are already there, and anyone who didn't play still has a whole season ahead to catch up. Keep an eye on the schedule: upcoming events show up first on the Competitive page.

And Arcanum's first champion is...

Champion · Alpha Tournament

Hyroil

our very own Michael from the community

3 wins · 0 losses

Three rounds, three wins, zero losses. Hyroil went through the tournament without dropping a game and went down in history as Arcanum's first champion. Nobody can take that from him. Congratulations, Michael, that playmat is yours, fully earned.

And congratulations also to Madruga and Wyncan, who rounded out the podium and took the exclusive foils home.

Finally, thank you to everyone who sat at that table today. You made Arcanum's first tournament happen, and I don't have words to say how much that means to me. See you at the next one.

Thank you, Guilda Geek. Thank you, community.
