The Conjurer defines your identity. The Grimoire defines the price of your power.
The two pillars

Conjurer
The Conjurer represents the player during the match. It has Vitality, abilities and traits of its own, and defines part of the deck's strategy.
Each Conjurer has Vitality blocks listed on the card itself. When its Vitality reaches zero, the next block is used automatically and the Conjurer returns to play with the new value shown. With each return, its maximum Vitality is reduced, making the match more dangerous as combat goes on.
When there are no Vitality blocks left, the player loses the match.

Grimoire
The Grimoire is a permanent that represents your deck's main pact. The Arcane Domain spheres on the Grimoire determine which kinds of magic can be used when building the deck.
Each Grimoire has its own activation condition, usually tied to controlling creatures with the matching Pact.
While the condition is met, the Grimoire gathers loyalty counters during the match. Once it reaches the required amount, its effect activates.
Active Grimoires require an upkeep cost to stay open. If that cost isn't paid, the Grimoire returns to its dormant state.
The Conjurer defines your identity. The Grimoire defines the price of your power. True Arcanum strategy is born from the balance between will and pact.
